Dear participants, during 2017, the tunes and lyrics of "City of Stars", from that movie that plays on being somewhat disconnected to reality, were probably heard by many of you. Our meeting does not play on that kind of disconnection. On the contrary, it is my privilege, as chair of this year’s Annual Meeting Planning Committee, to welcome you to a meeting that thrives on being well connected, in the City of Light, thanks to Université Pierre et Marie Curie where we will talk about hot topics as privacy and trust for the mobility of persons, and the technologies that will allow to reconstruct mobility in novel ways. Please, do enjoy the meeting and use it to create new bonds and reinforce old ones while you, most probably, learn something new!

All sessions during the day take place in the historic Sorbonne area. The Université Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC), members of the Sorbonne Consortium, provide our meeting spaces as follows.

20 April, Social Event: Visit to Musée des Arts et Métiers. Befitting to GDN participants, after having lived three days of innovation and networking, nothing beats following in the footsteps of inventors and pioneers of progress and explore a one-of-a-kind repository of scientific and technical knowledge.. Founded in 1794 by Henri Grégoire, the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers, "a store of new and useful inventions," is a museum of technological innovation. The Musée des arts et métiers was refurbished in 2000, and now exhibits over 2,400 inventions. They are split into seven collections Scientific instruments, Materials, Energy, Mechanics, Construction, Communication and Transport. Audio guide headsets for a 1 hour, 2 1/2 hour or "free" tour with museum guidance in Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish are avaliable at a cost of €5 each, if you would like to use one, please make sure to arrange this on your own. Availability is limited to 25 sets total and are on a first come, first served basis.

This year’s annual meeting features three keynotes, seven plenary panel discussions, twenty-five break out sessions, a welcome reception at the Sorbonne Péristyle, annual dinner at the La Barge floating university restaurant at the border of the Seine with musical accompaniment (modern jazz performance by the Edoardo Liberati Quartet), a visit to the Musée des Arts et Métiers, and a list of speakers, presenters, day chairs and keynotes including:
